Cardboard Costumes

I hope you had a great weekend and didn't get too many sugar highs. (If you're a parent and took your kids to get candy....admit it....you've eaten some!) We took our kids trick-or-treating at the Community Center in town on Friday night, it was actually their first time going to get candy. Halloween tends to take a backseat to a birthday boy, so we always have birthday celebrations happening. We did get 2 trick-or-treaters to our house on Saturday. I think that's good for a rural area.

Any fabulous costumes?

My mom always made my costume and my 2 siblings' costumes when we were young. I remember being a fly, a flower, a fairy princess, a ballerina, a clown, and even Pippi Longstocking. She could make quite the costumes for three of us.

I only attempted one costume this year. Actually it was my first attempt making a costume. With a cardboard box. It took Scooter and I many, many days.

Any guesses as to what he was?

It's a semi with.....

Fire flames that.....
Transforms into Optimus Prime.

Chewy got an Ariel costume from Grandma that she has worn more times than she can count. I didn't have to make that one! *whew*
The joys of cutting a cardboard box and using lots of velcro! Plus seeing the happy smiles of children dumping out their bucket of candy! Costumes and candy....simple joy. Any DIY costumes out there or cardboard box transformations?
