Operation Christmas Child Collection Week

You might recall how the kids and I packed 2 shoe boxes worth of presents in September for Operation Christmas Child.

It's now collection week for those boxes.  Boxes are collected November 16-23.  To find out where to drop off your boxes, check out the Operation Christmas Child website.

Chewy and I dropped off our 4 boxes yesterday.  Yes, we increased to 4!  We let Scooter invite a few friends to one of those jumping places for a birthday celebration and instead of having them bring gifts, he requested they bring things for Operation Christmas Child.  I'm so proud of him!  We were able to fill up 2 more boxes!

The kids and I watched a DVD from Operation Christmas Child showing where some of the boxes go and some of the children receiving them.  It brought tears to my eyes.  My children have it so easy and have so much available to them.  These children had lost their homes and some didn't have much food or clothing, yet their joy at getting a small box of gifts was so evident.  Truly, truly touching!  It was a good visual to show my children how we can share the love of Jesus.  Isn't that what Christmas is all about?

Instead of the usual "Jesus is the Reason for the Season," I heard it said the other day that "We are the Reason for the Season."  If it wasn't for us, Jesus wouldn't have come to save us.  Beautiful.  Just like the smile on a child's face.

Go ahead and smile today!  You are loved by Someone!  Enjoy!
