Photoshop Elements 8 Novice

I purchased Photoshop Elements 8 from Costco with a coupon.  (Thanks mom and dad for the birthday money!)

It appealed to me because it says, "Create perfect photos that combine the best of everyone in a group."

I only have 2 kids, but whenever I take pictures of them, at least one of them is not looking at the camera or isn't smiling.  I can't imagine what my pictures would look like if I had more children.

So I experimented the other night.  It was slow, as my computer is nearly 7 years old.

Here's what I did:
I took this picture of a nice smiling Scooter and dog, but a Chewy that isn't ideal.

Then I took this photo of a Chewy that looks pretty good and one of Scooter that isn't so good.

I merged the good Chewy into the good Scooter picture with the easy guide editor on Photoshop Elements and....wah la....
Oh, my goodness!  I was seriously impressed and I have minimal skills at this photo touching up stuff.  I'm going to have to play with this Photoshop Elements after the holidays.  So much I can't figure out.  How do you get it to show you your original picture and then preview your changes next to the original picture?  Why isn't there a manual?!  I have a feeling this is going to eat some of my time.  As if I don't already have a million other things to do.  The bonus is that, maybe, in the future, my blog will have some better pictures.  At least I'll have better picture of my kids!  Enjoy!
