Linen Closet Envy

Do you get linen closet envy?

I use to. There are some beautiful linen closets out there with everything organized just so. Those closets don’t even need a door. They’re like the guy/girl that’s out of your league. Desirable and probably attainable, but would you really be happy in the long run?

You know what, my closet has a door. I’m over envy. There’s a door for a reason. It hides guest towels, sheets, and pillows. It hides extra toilet paper and furnace filters. It hides little children’s dirty clothes and bathroom supplies.

Yet the door doesn’t mean my closet has to be that guy/girl that your mother/father warned you about. The one that makes you happy for a second, but when you really take a look at it….it doesn’t make you happy. Okay, it didn't even make me happy for a second.  It was just easy.

One trip to Hobby Lobby later and I have the closet of my life. Cute and quirky and still a work in progress.

Well, at least two-thirds of one shelf is done.

The children’s bathroom supplies use to be in plastic containers. I repurposed those containers for Operation Christmas Child and was left with a mess.

I would have liked wicker baskets, but couldn’t find cheap enough ones locally. (I already have 14 Branas baskets from IKEA in the house that made the long trek here.) I got these unfinished wooden baskets at Hobby Lobby for $7.19. That’s the price for TWO of them. They’re $5.99 each and I got 40% off. Yippee!

I had some extra wooden letters and craft paint lying around the house. I spelled “OUCH” for the medical supplies and “CLEAN” for the extra body, hair, and teeth cleaning supplies. I then painted away, while Scooter painted some extra letters for fun.

All I had to do was glue the letters on the basket.  Quick, simple, and cheap.  That makes me happy!
Now I have baskets in the linen closet to contain stuff, plus it’s much easier to find what I'm looking for! Any creative ways you stow your linens and bathroom essentials?
