Cleaning Closets Between Cleaning

The cleaning tally today (so far):
  • 1 soiled bed
  • 1 mopped bathroom floor
  • 2 toilet cleanings on the same toilet
  • 2 baths on the same kid
  • 3 yucky diapers
  • 4 soiled undies
  • 5 loads of laundry
  • Countless bottom wipings
  • Excessive nose wipings
  • I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve washed my hands and used hand sanitizer.
2 sick children.
1 tired mommy.

1 clean closet.
2 days to clean it.

*big sigh*

I’ve kept my sanity by cleaning our miscellaneous closet between bouts of comforting and cleaning children.

It’s the closet door to the left in the picture below. Without a basement I loved finding a house that had two coat closets in the entrance. Guess what? Neither of them is used for coats. Who has that many coats? Not us.

Below is what the closet looked like before I attempted to go through it. My typical shove it in and stuff it in. I found an old phone in there, a microscope, and way too many earplugs. Things found a new home in a donation pile, in a cupboard in the kitchen, or on the new shelves in our master closet.

Below is what it looks like now. It’s mostly the kids’ and my craft items now. The top shelf houses little used books that we can’t part with yet, the paper sleeves for some of the kids’ books, and maps.

Total Cost: $0. Zero Dollars. Nothing.

I just repurposed containers I had, moved things around, and got rid of some stuff. It’s nice to have it organized now, though it doesn’t have to be pretty. That’s because most of the time it looks like this:

There's some more cupboard crashing for you. It's still a work in progess.  As is my master closet.  That one's a slow work in progress.  Any closets or organization things you're working on?  How do you keep your sanity?

My children's health is still a work in progress, but I'm hopefully optimistic.  Hopefully optimistic I don't come down with what they have either.  Here's hoping your day isn't as poopy as mine!  Enjoy!
