Farewell American Attic

Out with the old and in with the new.

In over 11 years of marriage, we’ve only made one substantial furniture purchase. That was 3 years ago. Now we’ve made our second. Yippee….my IKEA living room furniture should be arriving today.

Farewell American Attic living room furniture. We inherited you from Biker Boy’s grandma and used you till it was time for us to move on. You served us well these past many, many years. Good-bye extra long sofa, loveseat and chair. You’ll serve the new family you’re with until it’s time for them to move on.

The long sofa cradled me as I cradled my newborn babies. It was a place for guests to sleep or a new mommy and daddy to take a nap.

The loveseat resided in our basement until a move southwest. It was the “extra” couch for overflow guests. It became the dog’s favorite place to sleep.

The chair was huge. It was the place Biker Boy and I use to sit together to watch movies or eat dinner and watch reruns of MASH before children came. When we moved to the southwest it sat in the dining room/kitchen and was where everyone hung out. When we moved to our home it became the “story couch,” where the four of us piled on it to read stories in the evening.

*EEEEEEEEE* Happy Dance and Squealing! My new furniture arrives this afternoon! After running around an empty room for the past 2 days, even the kids are excited for the new couches!

Any furniture excitement in your future, whether American Attic or new?
