Mommications

I'm on a mommication.  Know what that is?

It's a vacation for mommies...with kids....at the parents' house.

Thank goodness for grandparents!  Especially after two weeks of taking care of sick kids and getting sick myself.  Yea for grandparents!

Yep, I'm visiting my parents.  The children are happily entertained with all sorts of toys they don't have at home, food they don't get to eat very often, movies they don't get to watch at home, books getting read to them, and the loving attention of their grandparents.  I get to sleep in, eat lots of yummy food (bacon & fudge!), read adult books, and watch adult movies at night.  Does it get any better?

I can count on one hand the number of times my children have been watched by a non-family member.  Is that sad?  (Thank you family members!)  Did you know our closest family member is about 800 miles away from us?  Biker Boy and I don't get out often....together...without children.

Anyone else know what I mean?  Perhaps you're like I was.  Newly pregnant, mommy to a toddler, and just moved across the country without family nearby.  What's a girl to do to find reliable and safe childcare...petcare...and so on? If you're like me you want references, background checks, fingerprinting, and a whole array of other overprotective mothering things.  Finding trustworthy and reliable care (besides family) is an issue for many moms.  Well, that's where Care.com can help.  I haven't personally used them, but I was contacted by them about this contest that they're holding for Valentine's Day.  I've taken a look at their site and if you're in a bind with care for kids, care for pets, housekeeping, tutoring, care for seniors, or just putting your service out there for others...check them out.

Here's the info they sent me on their contest and site:
