Initial It

Good morning everyone! How are you doing? Thanks for stopping by. I’m featuring some easy and mostly free wall décor this week.

I’m back with some more free art from the scrap pile. Yesterday I wrote a post about making over the clock Biker Boy built in high school. A little paint does wonders.

Do you see that piece of “art” hanging to the left of the clock? Yep, that was another project while the kiddos ate breakfast and lunch. Pretty easy. And it was free. Scrap wood and paint I have at home. Can’t beat that….with a 1x8 board.

I grabbed a scrap 1x8 board leftover from building shelves in our bathroom. I gave it a coat of black paint.

I printed out our initials on some full sheet label I had laying around(it’s like a really big sticker). Just in case you’re wondering, I used the font Britannic Bold.

I cut out the initials, took off the backing, and stuck them to the wood.

Then I sprayed away with my cheapo white spray paint.

I removed the initial stickers while the spray paint was still damp. I didn’t want those stickers sticking to the board because of the paint.

Then I mixed up a custom paint color with those little bottles of acrylic craft paint. I was trying to match that fabric you see in the picture below. Close enough. Then I painted. Free hand. With a sponge brush. Over a frozen pizza box.  Yep.

Then I hung it up after putting in a sawtooth picture hanger on the back.

Easy, free, and meaningful. Does it get any better?

Biker Boy's first comment when he saw it, "Are you trying to check my vision?"

Any initial art your way?  Free wall decor?  What have you created?
