Christmas Treats

I've noticed most of my food posts are unhealthy, sugary, yummy treats.  There's a reason for that. It's because I don't make them that often.  Truly, honestly....that's the truth.  You'd never know it from these posts, but we really do eat healthy...most of the time.

So here's my round-up of treats I've made and ones I have yet to this Christmas season.  And most of these treats I gave away.  Much to the dismay of my children.

BAKLAVA
You can find the recipe I use and how-to directions in this post.  Makes my mouth water thinking about it.  I am going to have to make this once this year.  I just haven't yet.  I still have a little time.  And really, it's pretty easy to make....it just takes some time.

SUPER EASY CHOCOLATE PRETZELS
You can find the recipe in this post.  Super.  Easy.  Yummy.  Great to give away.  That's what we did.

MILLION DOLLAR FUDGE
My mom says you're not on vacation unless you have fudge.  So true.  And so yummy.  I made Mamie's Million Dollar Fudge to give away this year.  I did save a bit.  I keep it in the garage so it's not sitting there tempting me to eat the whole pan.  I think the kids forgot we have it.  And I don't have to remind them, do I?  Here's a link to the recipe at Food Network.  I omit the nuts and just use semi-sweet chocolate.  Last year I added peanut butter to half of it.  Double yum.

SALTED CARAMELS
I don't often make things that require the use of a thermometer.  And for good reason.  It takes way too long.  But I attempted caramels this year to give away.  They took a long time, but they were super yummy.  I mean, I had to taste test one.  And it's a good thing I gave them away because they were kinda addicting!  I tried this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens.  Good, but I'm not sure I'll ever make them again.  It's that candy thermometer thing.

What are you making this Christmas season?  Do you have any favorites that you make every year?

Psst....the labels on the fudge are from the free printable holiday tags from Belvedere Designs.
